What you are saying….

#backthewhitehorse - the survey results are in!

Between 27 July and 16 August we gathered your feedback about the White Horse Stonesfield; what impact it would have to lose it, how much you use it, what services you want from the pub and whether you would help Stonesfield keep its last pub for the good of everyone in the community.

We had a fantastic response - over 360 of you have told us what you want. Our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to do this. The full survey results are available here , but these are the headlines...

A majority have said:

  • losing the pub will impact the quality of life in Stonesfield (74%)

  • your attitude has changed during the coronavirus lockdown and you now want to support local businesses more than before

  • you want to help buy the pub either through fundraising, donation or buying shares (78%)

  • what you want more than anything is good quality, no-nonsense pub food (73%)

  • take away food in the village would be a big positive. If this includes pizza, all the better.

  • you of course want good beer and wine but you also want a daytime cafe for good coffee, home-made cakes, pastries, sandwiches and afternoon tea (71%).

  • you want a friendly and welcoming place to socialise with family and friends or to hear some live music occasionally (69%)

This level of support is really encouraging, confirming that we should push ahead with our campaign to raise the funds to the buy the pub for the community. Members of the steering team will be outside the village shop from 9am tomorrow and over coming weekends to chat with people about their thoughts and ideas and to answer any questions. Spot them from their T-shirts!

We will also publish our plan for the pub next week - this will be based on the feedback in this opinion survey plus the research we have done into the dozens of successful community pubs across the UK. Then, on 12th September, we are planning to launch our share sale ... when everyone will have the chance to contribute directly and own a part of the pub.
